The hurricane is no obstacle for the concert
American rock band The Killers gave an impromptu mini-concert from their dressing room on Saturday due to the cancellation of a concert in New York after a downpour hit the city and the approach of Hurricane Henri. The news was reported by CNN.
The band was due to perform the final part of the first full-scale concert in the metropolis since the pandemic, titled "We Love New York. Return Concert" in Central Park, but heavy rain and a thunderstorm hit the city shortly before taking the stage, causing thousands of people to first suspend the event and then end it early. Despite these circumstances, the band decided not to disappoint the audience and sang one of their hits, Mr. Brightside, in the dressing room, footage of their performance was recorded on the phone and broadcast.
Due to the lack of necessary equipment The Killers played the song in an unusual acoustic performance, nevertheless the performance was supported by everybody in the audience.
The largest open-air concert in several years, which attracted several tens of thousands of people to the city centre, ended prematurely due to the sharply deteriorating weather conditions. Hurricane Henri is about to hit the state. A state of emergency has been declared in several counties in the state and in New York City. According to preliminary data, the hurricane will strike residents on Long Island early Sunday morning and will be accompanied by heavy rain with thunderstorms. According to meteorologists' calculations, Henri's wind gusts could reach around 117 km/h.
