Moms, Teens, and Truth
Kate Hudson is offering a dose of hard-earned wisdom to fellow moms-and Kylie Kelce is all ears.
Appearing on Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, Hudson, 46, didn’t sugarcoat the emotional rollercoaster of raising teens. As a mother to three-Ryder, 21, Bingham, 13, and Rani, 6-Hudson has seen it all, from the first steps to the first time she had to let go.
Her advice? Surrender control and trust the process. “And then the only other thing I would say to all moms is let your kids go. Let them f*** go. Don’t hold on. Don’t expect anything of them,” Hudson urged, her words both a warning and a comfort.
Kylie, fresh from welcoming her fourth daughter with NFL star Jason Kelce, nodded in agreement. She admitted that holding on too tightly can backfire, sometimes making kids “push back harder.” For Hudson, that’s exactly the point: the tighter the grip, the more likely teens are to rebel.
Hudson reflected on her own journey, recalling a moment when her eldest son, Ryder, offered her advice about her hectic schedule-a role reversal that made her realize the payoff of years spent nurturing independence.
While Hudson navigates the challenges of parenting young adults, Kylie is still savoring the chaos of early childhood. Yet, she’s already pondering the lessons “the universe” is teaching her husband, Jason, as a father to four girls. Kylie jokes that the universe “blessed” Jason with daughters to help him “get it” when it comes to understanding women.
As for Jason, he’s content with their growing family, even joking about the idea of trying for a boy or considering a vasectomy. For now, the Kelces are embracing their girl gang-and taking Hudson’s advice to heart as they prepare for the teenage years ahead.
