The Federal Reserve Bank of New York September 13 released the inaugural issue of "Fed & Main," a newsletter about the ongoing work of its Community Development team in three new focus areas: the economic drivers of health, household financial well-being, and climate-related risks to low- and moderate-income communities.
"The goal of the newsletter is to foster engagement and partnerships with the people who work in our focus areas," said David Erickson, head of the New York Fed's Outreach and Education function. "We want to ensure policymakers, investors, media, and activists know about our events, research, and roundtables."
The initial issue highlights the last September 15 virtual event, "The Fourth Trimester and Beyond: The Case for Broad Investments in Maternal and Child Health," presented in collaboration with NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Low Income Investment Fund, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
"The team's overarching goal is to search for and identify ideas that can transform the lives of people living in low- and moderate-income communities and match those ideas with funding," Erickson said. "The newsletter is one way for anyone interested to join us in that search."
