Report from Duke Energy
Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) on Thursday reported Q4 net income of $746 million after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The electricity and natural gas producer said its net income per share was $0.93. The power company reported revenues of $6.24 billion for the period.
However, analysts had projected earnings per share of $0.9659 and total revenue of $6.53 billion.
Duke Energy's stock price, down 0% this year, has performed better than the S&P 500 Index as a whole, falling 3% since the beginning of the year.
Company forecasts
Duke Energy expects annual earnings in the range of $5.30 to $5.60 per share.
Utilities sector
At the end of last month, NextEra Energy released its Q4 report. The report stated that the company's Q4 profit was $5.05 billion against analysts' forecasts of $0.3897 on total revenues of $6.25 billion.
Orsted ADR posted quarterly earnings per share of $0.2306 on total earnings of $4.06 billion. Analysts had previously forecast earnings per share of $0.7016 for total revenues of $2.45 billion.
Duke Energy produces electricity as well as natural gas. The company was founded in 1904 by Benjamin Newton Duke and James Buchanan Duke. However, the current CEO of the company is Lynn Good.
