Netflix Show Changes Tyler
Grammy-winning musician Tyler, The Creator, has reconsidered his earlier harsh remarks about Eminem's 2010 album Recovery. During a guest spot on Maverick Carter Mavericks show, Tyler explained that his views changed after watching the 2023 Netflix miniseries Painkillers, which shed light on the challenges Eminem faced during that period. This new understanding has led Tyler to reassess his previous criticism, reflecting his evolving perspective.
Tyler explained that his criticism stemmed more from his personal preferences in music rather than any animosity towards Eminem as a person. He now regrets not having a broader perspective at the time.
Despite his earlier comments, Tyler emphasized his deep respect for Eminem, crediting him with helping him learn how to rap. Tyler said: “I love Eminem. That guy taught me how to rap."
Tyler also expressed a desire to apologize to Eminem in person someday.
Although Tyler initially expressed criticism of Recovery, the album turned out to be a massive commercial success. It launched at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with 741,000 copies sold in its first week. The album's success was further cemented when it earned the Best Rap Album award at the 2011 Grammy Awards.
Eminem and Tyler have had a rocky history, notably after Eminem dissed Tyler in his 2018 track "Fall" from the Kamikaze album. Despite the tension, Eminem later expressed regret for his harsh words, admitting he might have gone too far.
Now, with signs of a possible reconciliation, fans are hopeful that the two artists could mend their relationship — and perhaps even collaborate in the future.
