Elon Musk's toy
Elon Musk's flamethrower was released in a limited edition in 2018. As it turned out, owning such a dangerous device could be classed as a crime: it managed to have a bad effect on the fate of many people who bought it.
When the first wave of euphoria from successful sales of the flamethrower wore off, it turned out that customs services refused to release packages of weapons from the US. At that point Elon Musk came up with the idea of naming the device "Neo Flamethrower", which supposedly solved all the problems. As it turned out, it didn't and it didn't solve everything. It is difficult to give an exact number of casualties from Elon Musk's hilarious prank. It is known that more than a thousand flamethrowers were confiscated at customs. Worst of all, many of the buyers were facing weapons charges.
Elon Musk advertised the flamethrower as a means to light a fireplace and claimed to carry it freely in an aeroplane. In practice, police have seized weapons in cars across Europe, broken into customers homes and even held many in custody. US citizen Max Craddock, for example, spent almost a week in a local prison during his stay in Italy, facing up to 10 years in prison for possession of a flamethrower. Fortunately, his lawyer was still able to settle the case in court.
The sad experience of owning a flamethrower was shared by one of the people who bought the flamethrower. He told how he was sitting at work in his home in London when there was a loud knock on the door and five police officers in tactical gear entered. The reason for the visit was that John had an Elon Musk toy.
And that's not all. There have been raids across the UK to seize the dangerous device and many owners have paid fines. Some tried to win their case in court, proving that the device was not dangerous at all, but as a result 1,000 flamethrowers were seized in Switzerland alone. Eventually, even in the US, possession of a flamethrower without a permit was made a crime.
