Dolly’s No-Cuss Collab
Before teaming up with pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter for a special rendition of her hit song Please, Please, Please, country music legend Dolly Parton had a few ground rules. Known for her signature charm and values, Parton made it clear that certain themes were off-limits.
The original version of Carpenter’s track featured the line: "I beg you, don't embarrass me, motherf---er, oh, please, please, please." However, in the version featuring Parton, the lyrics were modified to a more family-friendly: "I beg you, don't embarrass me like the others, oh, please, please, please."
Released on YouTube on February 14, 2025, the updated rendition also came with a fresh music video. The visual features Parton and Carpenter driving in what appears to be a vintage pickup truck, with Carpenter sporting a retro-inspired outfit — complete with a sweater, headband, and gloves — marking a stark contrast from her original, edgier look in the first video.
This collaboration is just one of many for Parton, who has a history of working with top-tier artists. In 2024, she joined forces with Beyoncé on Cowboy Carter, lending her voice to multiple tracks, including a reimagining of her classic Jolene.
Reflecting on her experience working with Carpenter, Parton shared: "She was so sweet. And Beyoncé’s great, and Miley, you know I love her. So, I'm just having fun with all of it."
Looking ahead, Parton is currently focused on Dolly: An Original Musical, set to premiere from July 18 to August 17, 2025, at The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville. While she hasn’t revealed her next musical partner, one thing is certain — she’ll only collaborate with artists she truly admires.
"Whoever calls me that I like... I’ll say, ‘Yeah, I'll do that,’" she said with a smile.
