Love Survives the Flames
Heidi Montag is embracing gratitude in the aftermath of a fire that reduced her family’s Los Angeles home to ashes.
The reality TV star, along with husband Spencer Pratt and their two young sons, Gunner, 6, and Ryker, 13 months, safely evacuated as the flames spread across the Pacific Palisades on January 7.
Sharing her experience via Instagram Stories the following day, Montag, 38, reflected on the chaotic moments leading up to their evacuation. “The craziest thing when you’re packing for a fire is that your brain just freaks out,” she said. “You’re like, ‘What do I need? What do I not need?’ It’s so overwhelming.”
Despite the devastation, Montag focused on her family’s safety and well-being. “The main thing is that we’re safe. Got out,” she added tearfully. “I’m praying for everybody else going through this. Thank God we have our health and our children. I’m just trying to focus on the gratitude.”
Her husband, Spencer Pratt, 41, shared a poignant moment on Instagram, posting footage from their Ring camera. “The one positive sign I saw as our house burned down was our son’s bed burned in the shape of a heart,” he wrote. “A sign of how much love was in this house.”
Meanwhile, Spencer’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, expressed her shock and heartbreak from London, where she was when the tragedy unfolded. “I don’t know if it’s a good thing I’m here or if I need to get back to L.A. I can’t think straight. What do I do?” she wrote.
Stephanie revealed that their father had attempted to save the house but was thwarted by fierce winds. “There was nothing he could do,” she shared on Instagram. “Even the fire station in the Palisades has burned down. The Pacific Palisades is completely on fire.”
The siblings’ parents also lost their home in the blaze. “My parent’s house gone,” Spencer posted, sharing a photo of the rubble alongside crying emojis.
In the face of such loss, Montag’s focus on gratitude and love stands as a powerful reminder of what truly matters.
