Marc Blucas’ Rustic Retreat
Actor Marc Blucas has carved out a unique life far from the Hollywood spotlight. Best known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and My Life With the Walter Boys, the 52-year-old actor and his wife, Ryan Haddon, made the bold decision in 2012 to move from California to a historic farmhouse in Pennsylvania. This relocation not only brought them closer to family but also introduced them to the challenges and joys of restoring a property built in 1711.
“It’s the only place in the United States that has that kind of architecture with old stone barns and old stone houses,” Blucas explained in a past interview, describing his love for the region’s historic charm. The farmhouse, steeped in centuries of history, has become a labor of love for the couple. Over the years, they’ve immersed themselves in extensive renovations while also building a life filled with family milestones and a menagerie of animals, including chickens, rabbits, and their beloved pets.
Blucas often shares insights into his DIY adventures and his journey into mastering historic home restoration. In a recent update, he expressed how his outlook has transformed over time: "When we first purchased our vintage home, the to-do list seemed overwhelming. What started as something I didn’t think I needed has become something I now can’t imagine living without."
The farmhouse has witnessed many chapters of joy for the family but recently became the site of an unimaginable tragedy. On December 27, Blucas’ mother-in-law, former model and actress Dayle Haddon, passed away at their residence following a suspected carbon monoxide leak. Emergency responders detected dangerously high levels of the gas, and the incident remains under investigation.
Dayle, 76, was a celebrated figure in her own right, known for her grace, creativity, and compassionate spirit. She is survived by her daughter Ryan, her grandchildren, and a legacy of love and light. “The bright light that is Dayle has dimmed in this Earthly realm,” Ryan shared in a heartfelt tribute, honoring her mother’s indomitable spirit.
As Blucas and his family navigate this loss, they remain rooted in the life they’ve built together — a life marked by history, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. The actor continues to share his journey, proving that even amid tragedy, the work of restoring and cherishing a home goes on.
