Increase in production
When contacted by the Indian press, Nissan officials said that after a month of sales, the Magnite crossover has taken nearly 33,000 orders.
The company said that the first 15,000 orders came within two weeks but the record was set later when the Magnite arrived at dealers and became available for test drive. It's worth noting that the Magnite received around 10,000 orders over a three-day period.
However, to meet growing demand, Nissan is introducing a third shift at the Oragadam plant. This is being done to reduce the waiting period to two to three months. In order for the plan to be realized the company will need to hire around a thousand workers and over five hundred managers at its locations in different cities.
Moreover, the Nissan Magnite's prices have not changed since the launch, except for the base model, which has gone up by Rs 50,000 to start at Rs 549,000 (about $7,500).
For now, the Nissan Magnite crossover is available for purchase only in India. The crossover is offered with a litre "atmospheric" and "turbo" engine with 72 and 100 horse power, which are aggregated by 5-speed "manual" as standard, a variator is also available for the 100-horse power motor.
