The US stock market ended Friday's trading with gains in the commodities, industrials and technology sectors.

The Dow Jones was up 2.13 per cent at the close on the New York Stock Exchange, the S&P 500 was up 2.28 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite was up 2.56 per cent.
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) shares gained 1.17p, up 4.25%, closing at 28.73. Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ: WBA) gained 1.42p, up 4.04% to close at 36.61. Dow Inc (NYSE: DOW) gained 2.11p, up 3.99% to close at 55.02.
Also, shares of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), rose 0.04p (0.01%) to close the session at 490.00. Home Depot Inc (NYSE: HD) shares declined 2.06p (0.65%) to close at 317.53, while Chevron (NYSE: CVX) gained 1.32p (0.75%) to close trading at 176.56.
Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) shares, which rose 7.26% to 482.87, and IDEXX Laboratories Inc (NASDAQ: IDXX) shares, which rose 6.82% to end the session at 447.77.
Shares of Baxter International Inc (NYSE: BAX), which declined 7.84% to close at 48.45. Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) shares lost 7.15% to close the session at 322.21. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc (NYSE: TMO) was down 3.94% to 535.00.
Medavail (NASDAQ: MDVL) shares gained 80.19% to close at 0.56.
On the NYSE, the number of gainers (2,655) exceeded the number that closed at a loss (459), while 79 stocks were essentially unchanged. On the Nasdaq, 2,689 stocks gained, 1,087 declined and 190 remained flat at the previous close.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which is derived from options trading on the S&P 500, fell 5.92 per cent to 21.13.
Gold futures for February delivery added 1.66%, or 30.50, to reach $1.00 per troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude futures for February delivery rose 0.14%, or 0.10, to $73.77 a barrel. Brent crude futures for March delivery fell 0.14%, or 0.11, to $78.58 a barrel.
