Schedule for the week
US indices fell sharply on Friday, posting their biggest weekly percentage decline since January, as a rise in US consumer prices in May heightened investor fears of an aggressive interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. Shares of technology and growth companies, whose market valuations are more dependent on future cash flows, led the fall.
At the end of the day the Dow Jones was down 2.73% on the New York Stock Exchange, the S&P 500 was down 2.91% and the Nasdaq Composite was down 3.52%.
