Schedule for the week ahead
Stocks rose at the end of a turbulent week, getting a boost from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who assured that more rate hikes are not yet on the table, even after the release of still serious inflation figures. Indicators added 1.5-3.8%.
Thus, energy, discretionary and IT sectors were the best performers on Friday. Ford was up 7.5% after a stock rating upgrade by Morgan Stanley.
Despite gains for the day, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq recorded their sixth consecutive weekly decline, the longest losing streak since autumn 2012 for the S&P 500 and since spring 2011 for the Nasdaq.
However, the coming week will have important company reports and economic data.
Monday company reports
So, on Monday there are expected reports from: Take-Two Interactive, Forge Global Holdings, Ginkgo Bioworks, HighPeak Energy, Rocket Lab USA, Microvast Holdings, Consensus Cloud Solutions, Rigetti Computing, Altus Power, Benson Hill, Albireo Pharma, Vintage Wine Estates and many more.
As for economic data, the Empire state manufacturing index (May) will be known.
Tuesday
Reports from: Walmart, Home Depot, Doximity, NextGen Healthcare, Agilysys, Tremor International, Lulu's Fashion Lounge Holdings, Container Store, Quipt Home Medical and many more.
Retail sales (April), Industrial production index (April), NAHB home builders' index (May), Business inventories (revision) for March will also be known.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, companies such as: Cisco Systems, Lowe's, Target, Synopsys, Bath and Body Works, Dynatrace, Shoe Carnival, Hawkins and many others.
Economic data:
- Building permits (SAAR) for April;
- Housing starts (SAAR) for April.
Thursday
Reports from: Applied Materials, Grab Holdings, BJs Wholesale Club, Advanced Drainage Systems, Deckers Outdoor Corporation, Flowers Foods, Eagle Materials, Monro Inc. and many more.
Initial jobless claims, Continuing jobless claims and Existing home sales (SAAR) will also be known.
Friday
Companies to report on Friday include Deere and Company, Booz Allen Hamilton, Foot Locker and others.
