The New York Stock Exchange closed Thursday with key indices rising as the US Federal Reserve (Fed), the country's central bank, prepared to raise interest rates to combat inflation in the country.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 87.06 points (0.25%) to 34,583.57 points.
The S&P 500 index added 19.06 points (0.43%), rising to 4,500.21 points.
The Nasdaq electronic exchange index gained 8.48 points (0.06%) to 13,897.3 points.

Shares of Two Harbors Investment (NYSE: TWO) opened at US$5.13 in vera trading and closed at US$5.05 (-1.37%).
On the NYSE the number of securities that fell (1,739) exceeded the number that closed on the plus side (1,453) and quotations of 121 stocks were virtually unchanged. On Nasdaq, 2,287 stocks declined, 1,541 rose, while 215 remained flat.
It is worth noting that May WTI crude futures rose $0.77 a barrel (0.8%) to $97 on Thursday.
