Trading on Tuesday
US stock indices rose on Tuesday as the Federal Reserve begins its two-day meeting.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added more than 200 points or 0.6%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.8% and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.2%. The Fed faces the challenge of raising rates fast enough and high enough to bring down inflation without overdoing it or causing a recession.
The fall in crude oil prices continued on Tuesday, with US crude hitting $94 a barrel and the global Brent benchmark hovering around $98. Gold also retreated to the $1,928 level.
Gas prices remained at $4.31 per AAA.
