5G airports in the United States
Airlines from India and Japan are reducing flights to the United States due to concerns over the deployment of 5G connectivity infrastructure near US airports.
"Due to the deployment of 5G connectivity in the US from January 19, our flights from India to the US will be reduced or revised with a change in aircraft type," Indian airline Air India said on Twitter.
Japanese air transport corporation ANA (All Nippon Airways) said it may cancel up to 20 passenger and cargo flights to the US from Tuesday to Thursday, Kyodo news agency reported. Japan Airlines (JAL) has decided to cancel three passenger and five cargo flights on Wednesday.
In addition, Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has announced the cancellation of flights to most US cities from Jan. 19 as 5G networks are rolled out in the US, according to the airline's official website on Tuesday.
By the way, earlier, US carriers Boeing and Airbus Americas asked the US Department of Transportation to delay the deployment of 5G networks near airport runways. According to them, radio signals from 5G network base stations are "adversely affecting flight safety". Work to install the new equipment begins on 18 January.
