In an Instagram post ahead of the weekend, Field shared her thoughts on the current political climate, saying, "I've not been on social media since it became public toilet paper for our former crook of a President." She expressed renewed hope, referencing former First Lady Michelle Obama’s words from the Democratic National Convention, adding, "But ‘hope is making a comeback.’ So here I am. This is me. And this is my dog, Dash. Buckle up."

Field continued her social media resurgence with a follow-up post, sharing a moment of hope as she watched Kamala Harris deliver her DNC speech on MSNBC. The image shows the actress alongside her 18-year-old grandson, who recently registered to vote. “Hope is here. Right in the room with me and my 18-year-old newly registered to vote grandson,” she wrote. She urged her followers to take political action, passionately calling for votes in support of the Harris-Walz ticket. “I'm screaming from the highest mountaintop I can find. Vote for our country, our children, and grandchildren. Vote for the earth, women, and human rights. Vote for democracy."

On X (formerly known as Twitter), Field acknowledged her hesitation to use the platform after Elon Musk’s acquisition. She humorously noted, “I haven’t used Twitter (I refuse to call it that other name) much since the new owner took over. But this is such a scary time in the world, hard not to feel isolated. Find me on Instagram, if you care to!”

Field’s return to social media highlights her ongoing activism. A two-time Oscar winner (Norma Rae, Places in the Heart) and nominee (Lincoln), her notable films include Forrest Gump, Steel Magnolias, and 80 for Brady.
