Early life
Daniel Shulman was born in New Jersey. He practiced tennis and lacrosse. He was captain of tennis and lacrosse in high school. He attended the Economics Department of the University and went to business school after graduation.
Career
He started his career at AT&T, where he worked for 18 years. After leaving AT&T, he became president of a long distance telephone company with around 40,000 employees. After that, he became President as well as Chief Operating Officer of Priceline.com. He then became the CEO of that company.
In 2001, Daniel Shulman was appointed CEO of Virgin Mobile USA, Inc. Thanks to Shulman, the company's growth has increased significantly. After he left Virgin Mobile, the company became one of the leading wireless operators in the country.
In 2014, it became known that Daniel would become CEO of PayPal. His new position was also marked by the acquisition of the European payment provider iZettle for 2.2 billion dollars. He said his goals for PayPal include providing financial instruments to 70 million underserved Americans in the US financial system.
Personal life
Shulman has a wife and two children.
During his time as CEO of Virgin Mobile, Shulman managed the partnership with StandUp For Kids, an organisation that distributes survival kits and a hotline number for homeless youth. What's more, one day, Shulman decided to go outside dressed as a homeless person to experience everything. After that, he said that nobody paid any attention to him, but he still managed to collect one dollar.
