Biography
Dr. Coward is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute and is part of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Services. She enjoys medically and surgically treating a full range of adult eye conditions and has a special interest in cataract surgery - she is expert in treating cataracts in the presence of glaucoma.
Dr. Coward received her medical education from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She completed an Ophthalmology Residency at New York Medical College before pursuing a glaucoma fellowship at Southern California Glaucoma Consultants. She is Board Certified and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. Coward is also passionate about education and health care equity. Not only is she an active participant in the education of ophthalmology residents and medical students, she works with minority high-school aged students to spark their interest in medical and science careers to increase their representation in these important disciplines.
