Friday trading
The US stock market ended Friday's trading lower amid negative dynamics from the oil and gas, utilities and financial sectors.
By the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 1.58% to a one-month low, the S&P 500 fell 1.31% and the NASDAQ Composite fell 0.92%.
The top gainers among Dow Jones index components in trading were Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD), which shed 0.47p (0.16%). (0.16%) to close at 302.65. Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) fell 0.74p (0.35%) to close at 208.71. Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) was down 0.53p (0.41%) to close at 208.71. (0.41%) to close at 128.39.
Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) shares were the fallers, down 4.03p (3.76%) to close at 128.39. (3.76%), ending the session at 103.04. Shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) climbed 1.98p (3.75%) to close at 50.83, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) dropped 12.77p (3.53%) to close trading at 348.73.
The top gainers among the S&P 500 index components in trading were Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) which gained 3.72% to 98.17, Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) which gained 2.58% to close at 565.59 and ABIOMED Inc (NASDAQ:ABMD) which gained 1.90% to close the session at 318.56.
Leading the fall were shares of Globe Life Inc (NYSE:GL), which declined 6.08% to close at 92.14. Shares of Baker Hughes Co (NYSE:BKR) lost 5.42% to end the session at 22.68. FMC Corporation (NYSE:FMC) was down 5.07 percent to 112.02.
The top gainers among NASDAQ Composite index components in trading were shares of Alfi Inc (NASDAQ:ALF) which gained 30.41% to 8.02, Sykes Enterprises Incorporated (NASDAQ:SYKE) which gained 29.95% to close at 53.50 and Geron Corporation (NASDAQ:GERN) which gained 29.08% to close the session at 1.820.
Leading the fall were shares of Orphazyme (NASDAQ:ORPH), which declined 49.79% to close at 7.31. Shares of Athira Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:ATHA) lost 39.36% to end the session at 11.06. Urban One (NASDAQ:UONE) dropped 27.31% to 9,930.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which is derived from options trading on the S&P 500, rose 16.62% to 20.70.
