US stock market

By the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones gained 1.39%, reaching an all-time high, the S&P 500 rose 1.66% and the NASDAQ Composite rose 1.24%.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) was the top gainer among Dow Jones index components in today's trading, up 4.60%. Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) gained 4.08%. Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) gained 3.38%.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) shares were the fallers, down 0.96%. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shares rose 0.94% and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) dropped 0.53%.

The top gainers among the S&P 500 index components in today's trading were shares of Nucor Corp (NYSE:NUE), which gained 8.90%, Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:AMAT), which gained 7.45%, and shares of KLA-Tencor Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC), which rose 6.86%.

Leading the fall was Discovery Communications C Inc (NASDAQ:DISCK) stock, which declined 29.55%. Discovery Inc Class A (NASDAQ:DISCA) shares lost 27.45%. Shares of ViacomCBS Inc (NASDAQ:VIAC) were down 27.31%.

The top gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite Index in today's trading were shares of Wah Fu Education Group Ltd (NASDAQ:WAFU), which gained 166.53%, Big Rock Partners Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:BRPA), which gained 36.33%, and Nextdecade Corp (NASDAQ:NEXT), which gained 31.79%.

Leading the fall was Discovery Communications C Inc (NASDAQ:DISCK) stock, which was down 29.55%. Discovery Inc Class A (NASDAQ:DISCA) shares lost 27.45%. ViacomCBS Inc (NASDAQ:VIAC) is down 27.31%.

Nucor Corp (NYSE:NUE) stock price rose to a high, climbing 8.90%,. Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:AMAT) shares gained 7.45 percent. Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) shares gained 4.08 percent. Wah Fu Education Group Ltd (NASDAQ:WAFU) shares gained 166.53%.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is derived from options trading on the S&P 500, fell 4.80%.

Gold futures for April delivery added 0.36%, or reaching $1,731.30 per troy ounce. WTI crude futures prices for May delivery rose 3.71% to $60.73 a barrel. Brent crude futures for May delivery rose 3.92% to $64.38 per barrel.
