Love Amid Recovery
John Mulaney, the 41-year-old comedian known for his work on “Everybody’s in L.A.”, and Olivia Munn, the 44-year-old star of “Newsroom”, have recently celebrated their love in a private ceremony in New York. This joyous event comes after three years of dating and the birth of their son, Malcolm Hiệp, in November 2021.
Their love story began at the wedding of “Saturday Night Live” alum Seth Meyer to Alexi Ashe in 2013. However, it wasn’t until Spring 2021 that they started dating. Mulaney humorously reflected on their relationship during a 2021 episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers”, saying, “It’s nice that something good came out of the wedding. She got to date me right out of recovery, which is what they call a reverse catch.”
Their relationship has been a beacon of hope for Mulaney, who ended his marriage with Anna Marie Tendler and sought treatment for his alcohol and cocaine addictions in May 2021. He credits meeting Munn, the “Six” and “Ocean’s Eight” actor, as a “very, very lucky thing” amid his recovery.
Munn has also faced her share of challenges, including a diagnosis of luminal B breast cancer in March, which led to four surgeries, including a double mastectomy and the removal of both ovaries. Despite these hardships, she remains hopeful about the future, having preserved two viable frozen embryos for potential family expansion.
In the face of life’s ups and downs, one couple’s unwavering dedication to each other has become a beacon of hope. As shared by Mulaney in an exclusive interview with Vogue, their journey has been marked by resilience and courage.
From the moment of her diagnosis, Mulaney knew that the doctor’s swift risk assessment had been a life-saving intervention. He stated, “The day she was diagnosed, I realized that the immediate and decisive action of her doctor had undoubtedly saved her life.”
While they usually prefer to keep their personal life away from the public eye, Mulaney expressed his full support for Olivia’s decision to share her story. He believes that their experience could inspire and give hope to others facing similar challenges.
