Stock market trades
The US stock market ended Friday's trading multidirectional. The market is performing on the back of negative momentum from the oil and gas, technology and utilities sectors.
At the close on the New York Stock Exchange the Dow Jones was up 0.10 per cent, the S&P 500 was down 0.12 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.18 per cent.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) shares gained 4.03% to close at 182.87. Nike (NYSE: NKE) gained 1.29 percent to close at 112.20. Dow Inc (NYSE: DOW) gained 0.94% to close at 51.55.
However, Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) fell 1.66% to close the session at 144.56. Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) shares climbed 1.41% to close at 29.41 and Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) dropped 0.84% to close at 380.58.
Enphase Energy (NASDAQ: ENPH) shares gained 7.01% to 336.00.
Shares of PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) were down 4.93% to close at 74.66. Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE: VLO) shares lost 3.76% to close the session at 127.07. Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET) was down 3.39% to 135.04.
Shares of Anavex Life Sciences Corp (NASDAQ:AVXL) were up 35.85% to end the session at 12.05.
On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of gainers (1,672) exceeded the number of losers (1,409), while 119 stocks were virtually unchanged. On Nasdaq, 2,141 stocks gained, 1,547 declined, and 268 remained flat.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which is derived from options trading on the S&P 500, fell 3.93% to 19.06, hitting a new 6-month low.
Gold futures for February delivery lost 0.19%, or 3.45, to $1.00 per troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude futures for January delivery fell 1.31%, or 1.06, to $80.16 a barrel. Brent crude futures for February delivery fell 1.23%, or 1.07, to $85.81 per barrel.
