Schedule for the week
Investors in the US stock market this week will be treated to important economic data on US retail sales for October. Nvidia (NVDA), Alibaba (BABA), Li Auto (LI), Lucid (LCID), Walmart (WMT), Home Depot (HD) and others will release their financial reports.
Major US stock indices fell last week with the S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq Composite losing 0.31%, 0.63% and 0.69% respectively.
At the same time the market recovered considerably on Friday with the S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq Composite indices rising 0.72%, 0.5% and 1% respectively.
US stock market on Monday
Electric car makers Li Auto (LI) and Lucid Group (LCID) will report quarterly financial results today, as well as Advance Auto Parts, Tyson Foods and Warner Music Group.
Qualcomm (QCOM), Bristol Myers Squibb and Cboe Global Markets may announce important announcements at their Investor Day events, which start on Monday and run through Tuesday.
The New York Fed will release the NY Empire State Manufacturing Activity Index, which reflects the economic health of the manufacturing sector by surveying some 200 manufacturers in New York State.
Tuesday
Walmart (WMT) will report earnings and revenue for the third quarter of fiscal year 2022 before the market opens on Tuesday. Home Depot (HD) and TransDigm Group will also publish their reports. Walmart's share growth this year has lagged significantly behind the overall market growth. The Census Bureau will publish a report on changes in US retail sales in October.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) will publish the housing market index (HMI).
Wednesday
Nvidia (NVDA), Cisco Systems (CISCO), Target (T), Lowe's and TJX Cos will report quarterly earnings and revenue. The Census Bureau will report new housing data for October.
Thursday
Shares of Alibaba Group (BABA) and JD.com (JD) may continue to rise this week following the strong results of last week's Bachelor's Day sale and ahead of their financial reports on Thursday.
Applied Materials, Intuit, Ross Stores and Workday will also report earnings and profits to investors and hold investor conferences to discuss them.
Liberty Media, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Ingersoll Rand and Stryker will also hold special investor conferences.
Friday
Foot Locker shares may react to the earnings and revenue reports for the third financial quarter.
Two representatives of the Federal Reserve will speak.
