Biography
Olivier Andriès is a French business manager. He has been Chief Executive Officer of Safran since 1st January 2021.
Career
Olivier Andriès is an engineer who graduated from École Polytechnique and École des Mines . He began his professional career in the public service, at the Ministry of Industry then at the Treasury Department. In 1993 he was adviser for industry in the office of the Minister of the Economy and Finance.
He joined the Lagardère group in 1995 , as deputy director of strategy, then as special advisor to Jean-Luc Lagardère in 1998. In 2000, he became director of product policy at Airbus, then in 2005 of strategy and Cooperation. In 2007 he was appointed Director of Strategy for EADS (from Airbus Group ).
He joined the Safran group in March 2008, recruited as Deputy Managing Director in charge of strategy and development. In September 2009, he was entrusted with the coordination of the Defense - Security branch of the group. In 2011, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Safran Helicopter Engines ; He left this position in mid-2015 to head Safran Aircraft Engines, the main subsidiary of the group which represented half of its turnover in 2019 and provided it with two-thirds of its operating profit.
After he ran unsuccessfully as a candidate in 2014, he was appointed in October 2019 by the board of directors to succeed Philippe Petitcolin at the head of the group. The award takes place on1 st January 2021.
