Key takeaways from Apple's presentation
Apple shares rose slightly after the company's annual presentation, where it unveiled its new iPhone 13 range, the new iPad and iPad mini 2021, Apple Watch Series 7 and updates to the Apple TV+ and Fitness+. The new products didn't receive a radical new upgrade, though.
Key Apple product updates for 2021
An important point of the updates was to keep prices of the new iPhones at the same level as last year's new products, allowing the company to continue to compete on price with other manufacturers.
Delivery times were also a concern among investors, given the global shortage of semiconductors and electronics parts, but for the most part showed no delays.
The iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone Pro Max start at $799, $999 and $1099 respectively. Pre-sales of the new iPhones will start on Friday 17 September, with the first deliveries a week later, on 24 September. The new iPad and iPad mini start at $329 and $499 respectively and will go on sale next week.
An exact launch date for the Apple Watch Series 7 has not been given.
The new iPhone 13 lineup
The new iPhone 13 delivers more performance thanks to Apple's new Bionic A15 chip. With 5 nm technology. The A15 Bionic is the fastest chip in smartphones and the new 5-core GPU in the Pro series.
The smartphone features an improved 'Super Retina XDR with ProMotion' display, extended battery life and a cinematic mode for auto-focus when shooting video.
The new iPad and iPad Mini
Apple's cheapest iPad, referred to simply as the iPad, has been updated with a faster A13 processor, a better 12-megapixel front camera and a wider lens to capture more people in the frame.
Apple Watch Series 7
The new device has a 20% larger screen, with the same dimensions, the screen surface is stronger and the watch is thinner. Apple's new smartwatch has an assist function for speed-dialing and now charges faster.
