New York Mortgage Trust is a real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company is engaged in acquiring, investing in, financing and managing primarily mortgage-related single-family and multi-family residential assets.
The Company's objective is to deliver long-term stable distributions to its stockholders over changing economic conditions through a combination of net interest margin and capital gains from a diversified investment portfolio. Its investment portfolio includes credit-sensitive single-family and multi-family assets.
The Company's investments include residential loans and business purpose loans, structured multi-family property investments, such as preferred equity in, and mezzanine loans to, owners of multi-family properties, as well as joint venture equity investments in multi-family properties, non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), agency RMBS, commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) and credit-related assets.
