Mira Murati business manager. She served as chief technology officer of OpenAI since 2018 and was interim chief executive officer from November 17 to November 19 of 2023.
Career
Murati previously worked at electric car company Tesla and augmented reality start-up Leap Motion. She then joined OpenAI in 2018, later becoming its chief technology officer, leading the company's work on ChatGPT, Dall-E, and Codex, and overseeing the company's research, product and safety teams.
On November 17, 2023, Murati took over as interim chief executive officer of OpenAI, following the abrupt removal of Sam Altman. She was replaced by Emmett Shear two days later.
