Hollywood’s Timeless Love Story
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, Hollywood’s enduring power couple, are often sought after for relationship advice, but they prefer to keep it real.
“I am the last person in the world to think I should give advice to anybody,” Russell playfully confessed during an exclusive chat with Us Weekly at Goldie’s Love-In Gala on September 27, marking the 20th anniversary of the Goldie Hawn Foundation and MindUp. “It’s just a day to day.”
Together since 1983 after meeting on the set of Swing Shift, Russell, 73, and Hawn, 78, have chosen to remain unmarried while nurturing a deep and joyful bond.
“She is always my priority. We’re ‘of the moment’ people,” he shared. “We just kind of say, ‘What do you feel like? What do you want to do?’”
Their lives, rich with family, revolve around their children and grandchildren. Russell noted, “Obviously, our lives revolve around our grandkids and our children, and their lives and what’s going on with them, and there’s a lot going on. We do have a lot of fun.”
Hawn, mother to Oliver, 48, and Kate, 45, with ex Bill Hudson, and Wyatt, 38, with Russell, highlighted that their kids are following in their footsteps. Russell mentioned, “We’ve talked about” creating a family film, especially after watching Wyatt’s wife, Meredith Hagner, shine in Bad Monkey. “If something were to ever really come along that we were all right for, and had the right little twist to it, [we’d say yes]. It has to be the right thing.”
Meanwhile, Hawn humorously admitted she’s unsure what such a script would entail: “I can’t write it and we don’t have time.”
Founded in 2003, Hawn’s foundation aims to improve children's mental health, with MindUP serving as a vital program for elementary and middle school students. At the gala, Russell praised Hawn's vision: “I really am proud. This is a woman who had an idea, right around 9/11, about the difficulties that she foresaw for children... The research that the foundation has done over the years has been incredibly valuable.”
As they celebrated the success of their philanthropic efforts, Russell’s admiration for Hawn's tenacity was clear: “It’s not easy.”
