John Cena Opens Up
John Cena has opened up about his choice to not have children, revealing that he and his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, tackled this topic early in their relationship. Speaking on the "Club Shay Shay" podcast, Cena highlighted the importance of having significant life discussions from the outset, even with the demands of his busy career.
Looking back on those early conversations, Cena shared that it was amazing because they were able to confront these uncomfortable topics, deal with them head-on, and establish a solid foundation. This honest approach allowed them to cultivate an environment where “nothing is off-limits,” enabling them to address any issues that might come up in their relationship.
Cena's Perspective on Parenthood
John Cena recently opened up about his feelings on parenthood, revealing that it may not be part of his future. He cited the immense commitment of time and energy required as the main reason. “I don’t believe I’m personally ready, and I may never be ready to dedicate the time needed to be a great parent. I want to enjoy my life,” Cena shared openly.
This isn’t the first time Cena has expressed these thoughts. Back in 2022, during an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, he echoed similar beliefs. Despite Barrymore's encouragement that he’d make a wonderful father, Cena compared the choice to parenting with career decisions. He emphasized the importance of passion, saying, “It’s like telling someone, ‘You’re good with tools, you should be a carpenter,’ but if my passion is acting, then I’ll pursue acting.”
Navigating Love, Career, and Personal Well-being
Cena discussed the challenges of balancing his career with personal relationships and self-care, stressing the effort required to harmonize these areas. "Being a devoted partner and maintaining connections with loved ones is demanding," he noted.
Although he doesn’t plan on becoming a parent, Cena finds fulfillment through his work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since marrying Shay Shariatzadeh in 2020, he’s focused on nurturing their relationship through open communication and staying true to his values. His previous engagement to Nikki Bella, now married to Artem Chigvintsev, highlights his ongoing journey in love and self-discovery.
