At the NYSE pre-market on Thursday, Sonos shares (NASDAQ:SONO) soared 21% after a loudspeaker manufacturer reported good earnings in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year as people began to invest more in home audio systems during forced isolation.
Shares in L Brands (NYSE:LB) rose by 17 per cent after the retailer published a report for the third quarter that was better than expected, driven by strong soap sales from Bath Body Works.
Macy's Inc (NYSE:M) shares fell 4.3 per cent after the retailer reported a drop in comparable quarterly sales of more than 20 per cent. This result, however, surpassed expectations thanks to a steady move towards online shopping.
Nasdaq shares fell 1.4 percent after the exchange group announced that it had agreed to buy Verafin, a financial crime firm, for $2.75 billion in cash.
Palantir Technologies (NYSE:PLTR) shares gained 3.1 percent after the recently announced public technology company announced a new government contract to upgrade communications networks for the US Army.
Shares in Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) lost 1.3 percent despite the fact that the chip maker's revenue in the third quarter surpassed forecasts and the company also presented a strong fourth quarter forecast. To date, its shares have shown an increase of more than 120%.
Jack In The Box (NASDAQ:JACK) shares jumped 5.6 per cent after the fast food restaurant chain showed results that exceeded expectations in the fourth fiscal quarter and announced quarterly dividends.
Starbucks shares (NASDAQ:SBUX) fell by 0.3% as the coffee chain increased the hourly wages of its employees in preparation for the minimum wage increase under the new administration.
Shares in AstraZeneca (LON:AZN) increased by 0.7% after the pharmaceutical giant announced that its potential COVID-19 vaccine, which it is developing with Oxford University, showed a strong immune response in older people in the second phase of the trial.
