SAG in the United States
Brendan Fraser, known for his role in the Mummy trilogy of films, received the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG) for Best Actor on Sunday. The organisation announced this on its portal.
Frazier was awarded for his role in Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale", he played an obese literature professor who weighs about 300 kg. The actor gained weight for this role and wore a special suit during filming. The film premiered in September 2022 at the Venice Film Festival, for which Fraser was also nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award.
Fraser ended his speech with the promise that everything will happen if you "put one foot in front of the other" and just "get up the courage".
The SAG Award marks the actor's second-ever win, after he won the award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in Accident in 2006. It is also his last award for "The Whale" after the Spotlight Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the award for Best Actor at the Critics Choice Movie Awards.
He also received a nomination for Best Actor at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards in March.
In the best actress category, Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, who played the title role in All at Once, won the award. The American television series won the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
