The Weeknd on Spotify

Canadian singer The Weeknd has become the number one listener per month on streaming platform Spotify. The music service released the statistics on Monday.

The Weeknd's tracks were listened to by some 85.7 million people during the month. Canadian singer Justin Bieber is in second place with 83.3 million listeners. At the same time, Bieber continues to hold the lead in the absolute number of listeners per month on Spotify in the history of the service with 94.6 million.

Also, the success of The Weeknd contributed to the popularity of his new album Dawn FM, released on January 7, 2022, notes the British edition of the Daily Mail.

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, who performs under the pseudonym of The Weeknd, has previously won numerous international music awards, including Grammy and MTV EMA. His songs have regularly charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
