Francoise Bettencourt Meyers entrepreneur, after the death of her mother Liliane Bettencourt in September 2017, received an inheritance of $39.5 billion. (The assets include a 33% stake in L'Oréal).

Early life and education

Françoise was born on 10 July 1953 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. She is the only child of André and Liliane Bettancourt. She studied at a Catholic school. She received a degree in international Jewish-Christian relations and the study of the genealogy of Greek mythology. She is also the author of a five-volume biblical study.

Bettencourt Schueller Foundation

One of the founders of the Betancourt-Schuller Foundation. An organisation named after her grandfather Eugène Schuller, founder of L'Oréal. Each year, the organisation gives cash grants to talented young scientists. Its annual budget is 250 million euros - 55 percent of this goes to research and educational projects, 33 percent is allocated to the humanities and social sciences, and 12 percent to culture and the arts.
