Buffy Chen Yan-fei is a Taiwanese actress best known for her debut role in the film The Silent Forest. She won Best New Performer in the 57th Golden Horse Awards and Best New Talent in the 23rd Taipei Film Awards.
Chen was born on August 9, 2000, in Taiwan. She had her secondary education in Hwa Kang Arts School and became interested in acting after taking drama lessons. She landed her first acting role when she was in junior high school. Chen later attended Chinese Culture University, majoring in advertising design, but she suspended her studies in 2020 to pursue a career in acting
In 2020, Chen auditioned and won her breakout role as Yao Bei Bei (姚貝貝), a deaf teenage girl who was sexually assaulted by her classmates, in the featured film The Silent Forest. She won Best New Performer in the 57th Golden Horse Awards and Best New Talent in the 23rd Taipei Film Awards for her debut performance. Chen landed her first major television role as A Ni (阿妮) in The Pond in 2021. In the following year, she received nominations for both Best New Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the 4th Asia Contents Awards with her role in 2022 fantasy series, Twisted Strings. In 2023, Chen was cast as lead role in Netflix political thriller Wave Makers, starring alongside Hsieh Ying-xuan, Jag Huang, Gingle Wang and Leon Dai.
