Biography
Ian Wright is the Founder and CEO of Wrightspeed, and one of the four Co-Founders of Telsa. After pitching Tesla to Elon Musk in a 2.5-hour pitching session, Ian left one year after it's founding.
Career
Originally from New Zealand, Ian moved to Silicon Valley in 1993 to build networking products for NET and Cisco. Ian is passionate about innovation and high-performance automotive technology and is a patented inventor in both automotive and networking technology.
Following his departure from Tesla, he went on to build the world's fastest street legal electric car in the world (a record which held for nearly 10 years) and is now leading Wrightspeed, a company that aims to design the "world's most efficient range-extended electric vehicle powertrains". Under Ian’s leadership, the company has designed the only available range-extended electric powertrain for heavy-duty vehicles, and leads the world in this technology: the lowest emissions and best energy efficiency for heavy vehicles in urban drive cycles; and is now scaling up production to meet strong global demand.
Wrightspeed was named a 2016 World Energy Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. Wrightspeed’s The Route™ powertrain and Fulcrum™ Turbine are the future of heavy urban vehicle propulsion.
