Years of Laughs and a Vegas Legacy
For over 40 years, Carrot Top has been a driving force in comedy, captivating audiences with his electrifying performances, quick wit, and signature prop-driven humor. From his early stand-up roots to becoming a pop culture phenomenon, he has crafted a career unlike any other.
As he approaches two decades as a headliner at the Luxor Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Carrot Top—born Scott Thompson — continues to push creative boundaries. While most recognize him for his over-the-top props, he stresses that his show is far more than just visual gags.
"I've had people come to the show, even recently, and say, 'I didn't know you did so much stand-up,'" he told The Blast. "If you come to the show, you'll see 70% of it is stand-up."
Over the years, he has embraced new technology, incorporating a video wall to enhance jokes visually. "Instead of holding up a prop, I just point to the screen—it adds another layer to the comedy," he said.
Keeping his show fresh after 40 years is no easy feat, but Carrot Top constantly tweaks his material. "I always write and change the show, even if it's just one or two jokes a night," he explained.
Despite his success, he remains grounded. Offstage, he enjoys quiet escapes to Red Rock Canyon, calling it a "spectacular" retreat from the Vegas lights.
From sneaking late-night comedy shows as a kid to becoming one of the longest-running headliners on the Strip, Carrot Top's journey is a testament to his passion and adaptability. And after 40 years, the laughs just keep coming.
