Jonas-Turner Divorce Finalized
A Florida judge has officially finalized Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's divorce, approving their confidential settlement. The ruling, issued by Miami-Dade County, comes a year after Jonas, 35, filed for divorce from Turner, 28, known for her role in Game of Thrones. Their agreement resolves key issues such as asset division, spousal support, and custody of their daughters, Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2. Judge Gina Beovides confirmed the marriage was "irretrievably broken" and highlighted the parenting plan's focus on the children's best interests.
The couple’s relationship, which began in 2016 after connecting on Instagram, led to an intimate Las Vegas wedding in May 2019, where country duo Dan Shay performed. Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023, citing irreconcilable differences and requesting joint custody of their daughters. Shortly after, the couple shared identical social media statements, expressing their intention for a peaceful separation.
Tensions heightened when Turner accused Jonas of withholding their daughters' passports, alleging that he had done so while touring in New York. Turner stated that they had planned to raise their children in her native England before their relationship fell apart. Jonas, however, countered that they had mutually discussed the divorce on several occasions prior to filing.
In January, the couple dropped the custody dispute, signaling a move towards resolution. Since then, Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, has shifted her focus to other acting projects. Meanwhile, Jonas continues touring with his band, the Jonas Brothers, performing across Europe.
Judge Beovides praised the couple's parenting plan, commenting on their dedication to their daughters' well-being. This settlement marks the peaceful conclusion of what could have been a prolonged legal battle, allowing Jonas and Turner to move forward in their professional and personal lives.
