Stephen Douglas McMichael is an American former professional American football player, coach, politician, sports broadcaster and professional wrestler.
McMichael played college football for the Texas Longhorns, where he was a consensus All-American selection in 1979. Professionally, he played in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 years where he was a twice Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro who won Super Bowl XX with the Chicago Bears. He also played for the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers as a defensive tackle.
McMichael then became a professional wrestler from 1995 to 1999, returning in 2008. He was known for his time in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) where he became a member of the legendary Four Horsemen stable and was a one-time WCW United States Champion.
From 2007 to 2013, McMichael was the head coach of the Chicago Slaughter of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL).
In 2013, McMichael unsuccessfully campaigned for the mayor of Romeoville, Illinois.
Prior to his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and disappearance from the public eye, McMichael was a regular presence on Chicago sports radio for several years and is currently the namesake of a restaurant in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.
