Machete Star’s Swiftie Dream
Swifties come in all forms, and even legendary actor Danny Trejo proudly counts himself among Taylor Swift's dedicated fans.
"My bucket list item is to wear a shirt that says, ‘I’m a Swiftie, what about it?’ and just walk around,” the 80-year-old actor shared in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly as part of their "25 Things You Don’t Know About Me" feature. Trejo might not know Swift personally, but he's got immense admiration for her hustle. “I don’t even know her, but I’m so proud of Taylor Swift. She’s making so much money. Have you seen how hard that little girl works? I love the work ethic, you know what I mean?”
The Machete star, who recently released the horror film Seven Cemeteries, is no stranger to hard work himself. His life has been full of surprising stories, including an unexpected start in armed robbery. Recalling his first job, Trejo said, “I was a lookout for a pill dealer. I worked as a maintenance man, but I got hired so I could watch my boss’s trailer because he was selling pills.”
The gig ended when the authorities raided his boss’s trailer. “His name was Whitey, and he wouldn’t have gotten busted, but he wasn’t home when the cops came,” Trejo laughed, adding that they later met again in county jail. “I said, ‘Hey, you should’ve given me your phone number. I would’ve called you!’”
Trejo's rugged exterior hides a man with a wide range of passions. From a love for old cars to a fascination with vintage films like The Searchers, Trejo has built a life rich with unique experiences. His new HISTORY Channel show, Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo, premieres December 6, further cementing his place as a versatile star with an endless supply of stories.
