Ritter’s Romantic Playlist

Jason Ritter, known for his endearing roles on screen and his genuine off-screen personality, has a soft spot for karaoke nights. The Parenthood star loves to channel his emotions through music, often choosing Miley Cyrus ballads as his go-to songs. However, when his wife, fellow actor Melanie Lynskey, is by his side, Ritter changes it up with a more sentimental choice, turning to Beyoncé for inspiration.

“My go-to karaoke song is ‘Wrecking Ball’ by Miley Cyrus,” Ritter, 44, reveals, “or ‘Sandcastles’ by Beyoncé if Melanie is there.” His choices reflect the deep emotional connection he shares with Lynskey, whom he met more than a decade ago on the set of their movie The Big Ask. Their chemistry on and off the screen was undeniable, and it wasn't long before the two sparked a romance. Over the years, they worked on more films together, including We’ll Never Have Paris in 2014 and The Intervention in 2016.

Their relationship moved from professional collaboration to a personal journey as they got engaged in 2017, and welcomed their daughter the following year. When Lynskey was cast in the hit show Yellowjackets and had to relocate to Canada for filming during the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple faced an unexpected challenge — travel restrictions. In a spontaneous yet romantic gesture, they decided to get married right on their front porch in Atlanta.

“I was like, ‘We have a child. What? I can’t leave for six months,’ so I said, ‘We have to get married tomorrow,’” Lynksey shared in a past interview, describing their intimate and unplanned wedding ceremony.

Apart from his personal life, Ritter remains busy with his career. His latest project, Matlock, is set to premiere on CBS on September 22. Despite his busy schedule, Ritter takes time to enjoy the simpler things in life. He enjoys quiet date nights with Lynskey, where they often order takeout and watch TV, though Ritter admits he's usually the one pausing the show for mid-watch conversations. His love for nostalgia also shines through in his fondness for childhood memories, like the time he won a game of hide-and-seek so thoroughly that the babysitter left the park in a panic to find his parents.
