Jake Nodar Defends Zac Brown

Jake Nodar, a close friend of Zac Brown, has come forward to defend the musician against the “one-sided” allegations made by his ex-wife, Kelly Yazdi. In an Instagram video posted on Friday, August 9, Nodar shared his perspective on the situation.

"A few months ago, Zac’s ex took to social media in the form of a poem that rivals the greats like Dr. Seuss. It was entitled, ‘Butterflies Don’t Belong in Nets.’ She said she’s a wildflower that was yanked from the ground and shoved into a pot. Let me tell you: Most people would kill to live in this pot,” Nodar recounted.

Nodar claimed that Yazdi, 33, had previously spent “thousands [of dollars] a month” on spa treatments, clothing, and vacations. He also addressed Yazdi’s self-description as a “wild horse that’s been caged,” stating, “As someone that’s trained horses professionally for over 20 years and has worked with actual wild horses, let me just say that is offensive to all actual wild horses.”

Nodar further criticized Yazdi’s claims about Zac’s control over her attire, saying, “Kelly speaks about how Zac didn’t want her to dress a certain way. Let me tell you, if you’re a grown-ass adult and think wearing a string bikini that shows off your [body] when you bend over in front of 8-year-olds is OK, you deserve to be told otherwise.”

Brown, 46, and Yazdi had a secret wedding in August 2023 but separated just four months later. In May, Brown filed a lawsuit against Yazdi, alleging that one of her Instagram posts had damaged his public image. The Zac Brown Band frontman asserted that Yazdi’s post violated a confidentiality agreement she had signed during their brief marriage. He also sought an emergency temporary restraining order, which was denied by a judge.

Court documents revealed Brown accused Yazdi of stealing confidential documents. Yazdi denied the accusations, stating on Instagram that her poems on social media did not divulge any confidential information about Brown’s business or authorize a court to restrict her from speaking about her personal life.

Yazdi addressed the ongoing litigation in a social media video on Thursday, August 8, calling the accusations “misleading” but did not specifically mention the breach of confidentiality allegations.

Zac was previously married to Shelly Brown, with whom he shares daughters Justice, 16, Lucy, 15, Georgia, 14, Joni, 12, and son Alexander, 9.
