Atonement to Matrimony
In a secret ceremony away from the prying eyes of the public, Saoirse Ronan, the esteemed actress from Ireland, and her significant other, Jack Lowden, have professed their commitment to each other. This special occasion, verified by the Scottish civil marriage register, was held in the enchanting city of Edinburgh, Scotland, in the presence of their loved ones.
Ronan, who has been a popular figure since her remarkable performance in the 2007 film ‘Atonement’, encountered Lowden while working on the period drama ‘Mary Queen of Scots’. In this film, Ronan embodied the role of Mary Stuart, with Lowden playing her on-screen spouse, Lord Darnley. Their real-life romance sparked from this professional collaboration, culminating in their recent wedding ceremony.
The couple, who share a home in North London with their terrier, Fran, also own a property in West Cork, acquired in 2020. Speculation about their impending nuptials began when Lowden posted a photo from a Scottish hiking trip, featuring a hand adorned with a diamond ring believed to belong to Ronan.
Despite the buzz among fans, the couple maintained their privacy. They were recently spotted at the Glastonbury festival, where Lowden was seen with his arms affectionately wrapped around Ronan.
Beginning her illustrious journey in the film industry with ‘Atonement’ at the young age of 13, Ronan has since earned four Oscar nominations for her outstanding roles in ‘Brooklyn’, ‘Lady Bird’, and ‘Little Women’.
Her co-star in ‘Mary Queen of Scots’, Lowden, describes her as an “unstoppable force”, demonstrating courage and leadership both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Together with producer Dominic Norris, the couple has launched Arcade Pictures, a production company. Their next project, ‘The Outrun’, is slated for a September release. In this film, Ronan takes on the complex role of a woman battling alcoholism and returning to her roots in the Orkney Islands.
