Dictionary Day

Dictionary Day

On October 16, we honor the birthday of Noah Webster, an American author who was born in 1758. Webster is most famous for publishing the first dictionary in 1806, which he continued to revise and expand for the next 27 years. When his dictionary was finally published in 1828, it was a comprehensive resource, filled with useful words and updated spellings. Webster was a true innovator in creating the reference book that we now use so frequently, so we are celebrating him today!
