A Century in a Room
In a reunion that’s set to send shockwaves through Hollywood, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are preparing to cast their spell on audiences once again. The pair, renowned for their timeless portrayals, are tapping into the vitality and spirit of their younger selves.
They revealed, “Okay, we have to go back and channel what we were like 50 years ago or 40 years ago, and we have to bring that energy, that kind of posture, and even raise our voices higher. That kind of thing.” This nostalgic sentiment forms the bedrock of their forthcoming romantic epic, which promises to be as unforgettable as their past ventures together.
The “Forrest Gump” team, including director Robert Zemeckis and stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, reunite for a new film. Using advanced de-aging technology, they depict characters across decades in a story based on Richard McGuire’s 2014 graphic novel “Here”. The plot unfolds in a single room over a century, with Sony recently releasing the first images of Hanks and Wright in their roles.
The much-anticipated film “Here,” slated for a Nov. 15 premiere, sees Zemeckis and Eric Roth collaborating on the screenplay. This formidable pair is also lauded for their work on the six-time Academy Award-winning “Forrest Gump,” which is preparing for its 30th-anniversary festivities next month.
“Here” introduces an innovative narrative technique. As Vanity Fair reports, the camera remains fixed throughout the film, documenting the transformation of a family home across different periods, even journeying back to prehistoric times. Hanks delivers a riveting performance as Richard, embodying the character from his youth through to his 80s.
Zemeckis praised the actors’ interpretations, attributing the success of their roles to their exceptional performances.
As per a press release from Sony, “Here” is a distinctive film that delves into the lives of various families residing in a particular location. The narrative spans generations, capturing the quintessence of the human journey.
The film spotlights Hanks and Wright’s characters and their ancestral lineage, investigating previous inhabitants of their home. The ensemble cast features Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly as Richard’s parents, with Michelle Dockery, Gwilym Lee, David Fynn, and Ophelia Lovibond in supporting roles.
