About the holiday

Brief History

International Day of Peaceful Communication was started by Ruben West in 2019. The day is for making people know how important it is to talk peacefully. We want everyone to talk peacefully at home, in school, and at work. Today, there is a lot of bad talk. People are angry and hateful. They want to hurt each other. We need to stop this. We need to be nice to each other and work together to make the world a better place. There are a lot of problems in the world. There is too much violence. Some people are trying to make others feel bad. They want everyone to be poor and unhappy. But we can change this. We can make the world better. Let's all work together. Let's talk peacefully and be nice to each other. Let's make the world a happier place for everyone.

How to Celebrate

  • Express Gratitude: Take a moment to express your gratitude for those who communicate with you in a peaceful and respectful manner. This can be done through a heartfelt message, gift, or simple act of kindness.
  • Practice Active Listening: Focus on active listening and understanding others' perspectives. This can be done by giving undivided attention, asking clarifying questions, and summarizing what was said.
  • Avoid Judgment: Refrain from making judgments or assumptions based on incomplete information. Instead, seek to understand and empathize with others' experiences and feelings.
  • Use "I" Statements: Instead of blaming or attacking, use "I" statements to express your feelings and needs. This can help to diffuse conflicts and promote understanding.
  • Be Open to Feedback: Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism. This can help to identify areas for improvement and foster growth.
