New York County Defender Services (NYCDS) has been representing New Yorkers accused of crimes in Manhattan Criminal and Supreme Courts for more than twenty years. The company's attorneys are among the most experienced in New York City. NYCDS defenders receive ongoing extensive in-house training. Recent law school graduates participate in a six-week training institute where they learn how to take a case to trial and win.
History
New York County Defender Services first opened our doors in 1997. Its original team of 13 attorneys banded together to provide people accused of crimes in Manhattan with the highest quality legal representation in the city.
More than twenty years later, NYCDS is now one of the premier public defender offices in the nation. The company has represented more than 300,000 clients in Manhattan's criminal courts and developed deep expertise in many criminal defense sub-specialties. Its team numbers more than 100 staff, including 70 attorneys.
