Description
Bridge's mission is to change lives by offering help, hope and opportunity to the most vulnerable in the community. The organization offers a wide range of evidence-based rehabilitation services, including mental health and addiction treatment, housing, job training and employment, healthcare, education, and creative therapy.
Bridge services are tailored to each individual the company serves to support their recovery and achievement of independent living goals. Thousands of men and women have used Bridge to help them lead more productive, independent and fulfilling lives.
Our story: a community of equals
The bridge was founded in 1954 by former residents of a psychiatric hospital. Returning to the community and finding that there were no programs to support them, the Bridge founders created a self-help collective to offer social support to adults like themselves with serious mental illness.
Today, The Bridge has grown into a $65 million agency providing housing and mental health services to 3,500 New Yorkers each year. The company runs more than 40 programs in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan, each designed to meet the individual needs of the men and women it serves.
