Biography
Henry Cathey, Jr. is the Aerospace Division Director at the New Mexico State University’s, Physical Science Laboratory, where he leads the universities engineering and consulting work with Space Perspective.
Career
Mr. Cathey has over 20 years’ experience managing and supporting the NASA Scientific Ballooning Program as well as supporting commercial SpaceBalloon engineering and development. In 2015 he was awarded a NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal for his contributions to NASA’s mission.
Henry’s vast experience includes hundreds of SpaceBalloon launches and thousands of hours hands-on work directly overseeing state-of-the-art NASA balloon manufacturing. Mr. Cathey is an Associate Fellow member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and past Chair the AIAA Balloon Systems Technical Committee.
