Biography
Julie A. Lagacy is chief sustainability and strategy officer for Caterpillar Inc., a global manufacturer of construction and mining equipment.
Career
She serves as a strategic advisor to the executive office for Caterpillar, collaborating with leaders across the company to focus on continued execution of its strategy for long-term profitable growth. She assumed her current position in November 2021.
After joining Caterpillar in 1988, Lagacy held several leadership positions as product and commercial manager from 1999–2004, human resources manager from 2004–2006 and senior business resource manager for its Global Mining division from 2006–2012. She was elected chief financial officer of that division in 2012 and served as vice president of the company’s Financial Services division from 2013–2014. Lagacy served as vice president of global information services and chief information officer from 2014–2020. Before being named chief sustainability and strategy officer, she served as vice president of enterprise strategy from 2020–October 2021.
Education
A certified management accountant, Lagacy holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and management from Illinois State University and an MBA from Bradley University. In addition, she holds a certificate in cybersecurity oversight from Carnegie Mellon University and serves on the board for the Illinois Cancer Care Charitable Foundation.
